Camel racing is one of the ancient traditions in Oman which is highly catered for and supported by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The association was first chaired by Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi in 1999, followed by His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said who chaired the association in 2002. At the present time, the association’s board of directors consists of the following:

In a Royal gesture, His Majesty the Sultan graciously granted the amount of one million Omani Riyals to be allocated to the camel racing sector and spent on construction of camel racing arenas. The association stages many camel racing events in various areas of the Sultanate, foremost of which are the annual camel races organized annually in Dhofar, Al Batinah, Al Sharqiyah, Al Dhahirah and the Interior. A final camel race is held annually at the camel race arena in Sohar where various governorates and regions of the Sultanate take part.
